Mongolia is a land of harsh beauty with endless open spaces, populated by nomadic horsemen.  Since the collapse of Communism, much of Western Mongolia lives in extreme poverty. Years of drought and unusually harsh winters have taken their toll on the countryside. Our handicraft products help alleviate poverty in Bayan Ulgii, Western Mongolia. We work with Altai Craft Co. and the Kazakh Handicraft Union, a not-for-profit-project, to establish employment and skills training. Employees are hired based upon need and have no other household income. In an effort to instruct on traditional embroidery patterns and to design products for local tourism and overseas sales, Fiat Charities has helped to provide facilities, designers, thread and exposure for the products through our home fundraisers, mailing lists, various boutiques and craft fairs. Our goal is to offer a quality, unique product that brings awareness to a culture beyond our borders.
